Relieve Stress

Many people in America have a heavy work load and sometimes feel overwhelmed. It is extremely important to have a healthy work life balance to reduce stress, as well as the negative effects stress can have on the body.

People handle stress in a variety of ways including listening to music, reading, writing, and exercising. Creating a balanced life with work, school, family, and other activities is important. You can manage stress in healthy ways versus unhealthy ways (like drinking excess alcohol or drug use).

There are proven healthy ways to manage stress. Some of the healthy ways to handle stress are meditating, reading, listening to music and exercising. Exercising for at least 15 minutes or more 4-5 days a week is a positive way to relieve stress. If you exercise in the morning you may notice you feel more relaxed for the entire day. A brisk walk outside or on the treadmill usually helps the mind release any worries and anxiety.

Yoga is also well known for its physical health benefits and it is extremely relaxing. The yoga classes combined with the stretching and breathing exercises helps most people release stress.

It is extremely important to have a healthy work life balance to avoid burn out. Perception of life events and attitude play a crucial role people’s stress levels. Having a healthy attitude and positive outlooks is extremely helpful in reducing an individual's stress levels.

If you feel stressed you might want to try journaling to write about what’s most important to you and what life events are most stressful to you. The most positive thing about journaling is that it gives you chance to write about the things that have been causing you stress and that outlet is very therapeutic. Writing also lets you think about your life stressors and come up with positive solutions to make your work load easier.

If you are not one to keep a journal, just listening to you favorite music for 15 minutes without any interruptions can help relieve stress. Classical music is known for its relaxing benefits, however you should select your favorite music. Using the stress reducing techniques of exercise, music, writing and keeping a positive attitude are healthy ways to relieve daily stress.
