The English Patient

Four of us went to see The English Patient one Easter. The movie was critically acclaimed and won nine Academy Awards including Best Picture. Surprisingly, we all hated the movie. The movie has beautifully photographed scenery, but it is long, really long, I mean really, really long. It runs about 162 excruciating minutes starring the English patient, a traitor and unlikeable loser suffering from serious burns. I would not recommend The English Patient to anyone under any imaginable circumstance. Each of my companions at the movies that day agreed that they wanted to leave the movie early, but didn't want to disturb anyone else. We all stayed by courteous mistake. If you haven't seen the English Patient but plan to see it, I've been careful not to spoil the entire movie plot for you. But I beg you for your own joy not to bother to see it. Especially don't see it with a friend and spoil your friend's mood. In my opinion, it's that bad.
